Weekly Goals

And here we are, at the end of another weekend. I had a productive day and also fit in a few mini naps (awesome), unfortunately I also had to drop Cody off at the airport so he could fly back to work (not awesome).

I've updated my goal board for this week and it looks like this:

Blue Goal: create a bedtime routine
This will entail winding down my day between 9 and 10. Things like shutting down the electronics, pouring a glass of water to bring to bed, putting cuticle cream on (must avoid gross winter hands!), washing face, brushing teeth, etc. My thought is that with time my body will recognize that all of this happens before I go to sleep, so it will know that it's time to be calm and relaxed and ultimately fall asleep faster rather than now when I'm just rushing around right before sleep time.

Yellow Goal: daily activity
The key here is to not overdo it. I checked out the SweatADay challenge from Under Armour and am going to participate in it all week and hopefully continue to participate daily after that. Today's challenge - day 17, was a cow face pose. This is mine :)

Teal Goal: follow meals plan to avoid junk food
I sat down today and planned my meals for the week and grocery shopped... No excuses, no need to stop for something unhealthy because I'm starving and didn't plan ahead. For me, the key to not binging is to not let myself become hungry, so healthy snacks are a must! I have fresh veg, hummus, edemame, apples, and sunflower seed butter ready to rock for this week and some baking plans to supplement my snack stash :) the sunflower seed butter I made fresh tonight!!

I'm looking forward to a successful week and I hope you are too!!!

Recap of Weekly Goals for July 7 - 13 & Finding Some Focus

Good Morning!

Well our Calgary weekend was a flurry of activity.  From shopping to visiting to wedding attendance to travel it was quite a whirlwind.

I was not in the happiest state of mind when my alarm went off this morning... that is, until I remembered that CODY COMES HOME TODAY!!!  I'm so excited to see him, even if it is only for a day.  He gets to carry on to Kelowna for his stag this week/weekend.  I only am a little sad about our short visit since I know he's going to have such a great time... and since my own stagette is this weekend :) WOOHOO!

RECAP OF WEEKLY GOALS FOR JULY 7 - 13
  1. Prepare some snacks for Calgary road trip - I did prepare some snacks!  And they helped very much on the way there.  Unfortunately I feel the need to admit that my inner fat kid made a bit of an appearance and I enjoyed some delicious, bloat-able food.
  2. Stick to new workout schedule - No.  Oh dear!  I rebelled against it instantly.  I did get activity in, but not as scheduled and not every day.  I did lose some stomach fat but... I think after Calgary it might be back...
  3. Apple cider vinegar with dinner - I only did this for maaaybe 2 nights.  I really really need to get back into this though because I notice a huge, negative difference without it.
  4. Early to bed!!! - I did decently well with this one!
  5. Work on wedding tasks for a little bit each day - Yep.  Things are rolling with all my little projects :)
This week I've decided to choose more of a general focus rather than making specific goals.  I think it's basically the same as weekly goals with different wording, but it feels refreshing!

MINI FOCUSES:

  • establish a bedtime routine
  • reduce stomach bloating
  • daily movement
  • clean eating
 MAIN FOCUS:
  • to feel healthy, fit, and energized so I have fun and don't feel draggy during my stagette!
Well, I had better get back to counting down until Cody's plane arrives, and then counting down until work is over.  These are pretty important tasks ;)

Recap of Weekly Goals For June 30 - July 6

Good Morning!

My day has started off wonderfully, and I hope yours has too!  I woke up to sun streaming through my window, and nothing can beat that!  My girlfriends had mentioned they were all going to hit the college track this morning for a workout, so I decided to participate in that mindset from home!

Since it was so nice out I obviously wanted some outside exercise!  I used the 5 K Runner app on my phone and went out to snoop the neighborhood!  It is so crazy quiet up here all the time!  I hardly ever see anyone on my morning jaunts, and am just really hoping that I don't run into a bear at some point.

My walk/run was successful and I am now at home enjoying some Maple Cinnamon Protein Pancakes topped with coconut manna and pure maple syrup, and a Vega Recovery Accelerator drink in Tropical.

My friend is hosting brunch for a group of us, so I must go and make myself presentable!

Below is a recap of my goals from last week :)

RECAP OF WEEKLY GOALS FOR JUNE 30 - JULY 6
  1. Clean clean clean eating as much as possible - I did decent on this but not full points.  Ate out for dinner one night, had an emergency Amy's pizza, but didn't have junk or fast food!  YAY!
  2. Continue with apple cider vinegar nightly with dinner - I missed a couple of these doses and wish I hadn't.  My stomach definitely feels better when I'm drinking it... Good to know!
  3. Daily exercise; no calorie burn goals for this week, just to be active in some way every day - Finally a YES!  Something active everyday, even if it was just a quick walk.
  4. Be in bed at 9:30 pm ready for sleep on Tues, Wed, and Thurs night... and as early as I can manage for the others- Big fat fail.  But not for lack of trying!  It was just sooo hot.  I figured out the fan/window set up for optimum coolness so by the end of the week things were looking up.
  5. Complete at least two chapters of school work - Not two chapters, but 1.  And I enjoyed every second of time I got to spend with my text books :)
  6. Mail out my thank you cards - Ummm... I'll do it tomorrow?  Why is it such a big deal to stop at the mail box!?
  7. Don't get a sunburn - Woohoo!  Check.  This is usually a huge issue but I've been applying sunscreen daily to avoid any mishaps!

Recap of Weekly Goals for June 23-29

Wow, is it really Sunday already?  This week flew by, which officially makes it feel like summer; and we're finally enjoying some nice weather which makes me oh so happy.  Last week seemed to be a trying week, full of ups and downs.  I saw this pic on Facebook and loved it!!!  I'm going to focus on the ups of last week since the downs always fade away pretty fast.

I just got back from Calgary where Cody and I had a great time visiting with our friends Marshall and Heather and shopping around before he had to fly back to Fort Mac.  I am looking forward to spending tomorrow with friends, gotta love a stat!!!  Cody is back to work and I'm prepared to be at odds for his first week away until I fall back into my independent routine.

Here's a quick recap of how I did with my goals...

RECAP OF WEEKLY GOALS FOR JUNE 23-29

  1. Burn 300 calories per day doing something active, 5 days this week - I didn't do as well at this as I had expected, this is the run down:  Sunday, June 23 340 cals; Monday, June 24 110 cals; Tuesday, June 25 119 cals; Wednesday, June 26 241 cals, Thursday, June 27 short walk, no h/r monitor; Friday, June 28 walk, no h/r monitor on; Saturday, June 29 Calgary... shopping should count as calories burned, right!?
  2. Do 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in water before dinner - Aced this one!  And I really do think it's helping my stomach.  It also is really thirst quenching!!!
  3. Write and mail out thank you cards to my awesome friends for the amazing and beautiful gifts they gave me on Sunday at my bridal shower <3 - They are written, but haven't been sent out yet.  So I guess I get a half point for this one.
  4. Keep my eating clean - don't give in to temptation or laziness - A big check mark for this one.  Although my week felt slightly out of control, I was able to make healthy choices due to our stocked kitchen.  Really really happy about this.  I did indulge a little while we were in Calgary, but not to the extreme, and not because of laziness.
I feel overall that my body needed this break from it's normal routine, needed to not be working out too hard, and I'm happy I listened to it!  I feel a lot more energized this week and ready to take on my normal expectations again.

To help ease into my "alone" weeks, I try to create extra focus on my food choices.  I also do things like clean the house from top to bottom, catch up on laundry, and find a good book to read.  This time I'm going to make sure to work on wedding decorations and spend some time in the evenings reading my text book for school.

Hope everyone is looking forward to Canada Day tomorrow!!!

Goals for June 23 - 29

I've recently started creating a few goals for each week, just to help me stay focused.  I like to have a few things to strive towards.  My downfall in the past has been to make the list too big and too intimidating, which was just setting myself up for failure.  I've been trying to change this and really love to have a few attainable things to work on.

WEEKLY GOALS FOR JUNE 23-29

  1. Burn 300 calories per day doing something active, 5 days this week
  2. Do 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in water before dinner
  3. Write and mail out thank you cards to my awesome friends for the amazing and beautiful gifts they gave me on Sunday at my bridal shower <3
  4. Keep my eating clean - don't give in to temptation or laziness
