Being Okay with Being Okay

I find it so interesting that every time I go "off the rails", when I level out again I'm sure that this is the time I'm going to find my path without having to look so hard.  Realistically that just isn't the case!  A healthy life is what we make it, and I tend to over analyze WAY too much.  I'm tired of being so hard on myself, so what I'm hoping for in the future is to make a decision and be ok with it.  Last night I ate almost a full row of Kinnikinnick oreo-ish cookies on my drive home.  And you know what, that is perfectly okay, as long as I think it is - hey, at least they were gluten and dairy free!!  I want to be able to look back at these posts and see my whole journey (which will be ever changing), not just the good parts.  Thus the title:  I need to be okay with being okay - instead of striving for the illusive perfection.  Alrighty, just had to get that out!

So, I have started my morning off bright and early with some warm water and the juice of half a lemon - loving the routine of this!  Now I plan on having some fajitas for breaky while I download workout tunes!  Cody made awesome fajitas last night - he makes the seasoning himself and everything, and I woke up knowing that I was going to eat one this morning!  Then I'm off for a workout with my pals which is so exciting because we haven't done a group workout in forever and I really miss it!  We're running stairs and I don't know how well I'm going to do because I haven't really been getting consistent exercise still, but I'm going to get my butt moving and do something at least!!  I also want to incorporate #sweataday into my life again so stay tuned on instagram @mfzohner for updates on that.

Enjoy your Saturday!

July 3 Group Workout

I have been finalizing wedding cake and cupcake plans with Jenn from JJ's Custom Cakery, and now all I can think of is delicious, glorious cake.  YUM.  I must stay strong and not go to the farmers market this weekend to gorge... (she has a stand there).  Group workout has come at the perfect time!!!

This week our friend Ali is home for a visit, so she was drafted to take a turn being the workout boss.  We used her basement because it's so freaking hot here.  We did a P90X yoga video and holy crap it was really effective!  It was way longer than I normally workout for, and I was really sweaty by the end.  I'm really curious about P90X and Insanity workouts, gotta try them one day...

I finished up this sauna of a day with some grocery shopping!  I must admit I've reverted a bit to my teenage self and have been hiding out inside as much as possible these past few days!  It's just so hot and it makes me feel cranky and sick, time to up the cuke intake!  Today my mom lent me her cooler to get my chicken breasts home without cooking them in the car, I was running low on eats and have been bumming lunches at her house haha.  At least I've been able to keep up with consuming clean food!

My indulgence of the week was dinner out to Pedal and Tap with my girlfriends last night!  I had the delicious Pedal to the Meadow burger and enjoyed my meal and visit so much!  My stomach definitely felt upset and bloated this morning though, so as an apology to it I'm going to try and stay very aware of my food choices and get everything balanced out again... if you know what I'm sayin' ;)

June 26 Group Workout

I just love Wednesday workouts.  For the past few months my girlfriends and I have been getting together on Wednesdays and working out together.  We take turns planning a group friendly workout, and then either meet at the local college track or -if it's raining- at someone's house.

I think it's become a favorite for everyone involved.  I've never really had a consistent gym buddy, but after participating in this type of activity I can see how it's really conducive to a good workout!  I mean, I have to show up or my friends know I'm fat assing it on the couch at home, and when I want to quit part way through my friends are there to help push through the tough stuff.

We have done a variety of workout styles, ranging from interval running to tabata to cross fit inspired to body weight workouts, and we have enjoyed them all!  Anything that gets me moving and burns calories is beneficial.

Today it is my turn to plan the workout.  I feel more confident basing my plan off of something I've read online or in a magazine.  Today I'm planning for us to do the following:

Wednesday, June 26 Group Workout Plan

Warm up by walking around the track 2 times

20 sec Run
10 sec Rest
x3
25 Pushups

20 sec Squat Jumps
10 sec Rest
x3
25 Crunchies

20 sec Run
10 sec Walk
x3
25 Tricep Dips

20 sec Jumping Jacks
10 sec Rest
x3
Plank x3 - 40 sec ea

Cool down by walking around the track 3 times

I loosely based this plan off of one I read here

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for a sunny day, but if it's not in the cards I can sub in skipping or more jumping jacks etc in place of the running.
